Dream SMALL

It was 2005,I was in first grade, and this was the time, when bollywood music was the chart-topper,it was all over the radio and VCRs.
A good nights sleep would mean being accompanied by the background of the slowest hits on the late night FM shows, obviously, this would be the best occasion for some family time.

I remember one night discussing “career options” with mom ,
and being the ambitious kid that I was, I had settled for being a doctor, much realistically, after staying on the pilot decision for some time.

My brother is more mature than I am,I think, and was least interested in my blabber .
When I pestered him for his choice he very blandly and funnily, said that he’d be a laundryman.

We lost our shit there and then, its a joke between us to this day !

Time went by and I was in class III, out of literally nowhere,or maybe from his cool sister,a friend of mine stumbled upon a track named “sweet child o’ mine”.
I had no fucking clue what this was! but it was the chatter at school,so I had to know,
I did what any curious sibling does, approached my brother.
Lo! I was introduced to YouTube, and this spawned a never ending love for rock-from old school legends right upto deadly metal.
Now,Music taste speaks volumes ! I feel it defines a persons character and state of mind.
And believe me I was totally influenced (and I have no regrets),
my expectations from life transformed;changed to a lifestyle which was led by the call for the west .
Yes! I dreamt of californication!
It so happens that all of us were being affected by this transition in our society ,it could be summed up to hollywood movies, latest pop and global television, and of-course the Internet.

What I mean is getting distracted from academics was very easy, and I was constantly reminded by mom that I sucked at math ,meanwhile my brother’s results spelled G-E-N-I-U-S, he could speak math for all I knew.
The big difference, whilst I only studied for the test and left it there , he practiced stuff till he could solve in his sleep .
Naturally, he was the considered the nerd by his then classmates.

You see the change in society I was speaking of is visible , you read more TimesGlobal than the CityTimes as you grow and the election might not interest you but the model T and the Pixel does.

Theres nothing wrong either ,exposure helps you widen your spectrum and school of thought .

How else would our colleges have come across the shift from conventional book eating to acquiring hands-on experience of work and learn.

Coming back to my brother, today he works on flying cars!He has been to all the places I imagined myself in whilst growing up;because while I was distracted ,he was motivated,I dreamt big and that was it ,just dreamt.

The joke that night was a hidden lesson, don’t fool yourself by just thinking big , it’ll keep your head in the clouds and feet off the floor , and worst of all it will hurt if you fall !

Instead,Dream small ! Think rationally , have plans and execute them , this means you are getting things done, and are on your way to something.
There is no need to keep telling yourself that “I’ll be a billionaire” and end up playing ludo .
Rather be “the landryman” for now , for this step , work your ass off and move to the next step, you will find yourself living the dream and you won’t even know it.

great shades look good. on tycoons and on cartoons !
